Art Outlet & Art Whino Join Forces for FLIK 2008

Art Outlet & Art Whino Join Forces for FLIK 2008

We are happy to announce that the Art Whino Gallery will be partnering with Art Outlet this year to produce the FLIK Movie Festival & Interactive Exhibit. Both organizations, while still relatively new to the DC art scene, have a proven track record in producing multi dimensional, yet artistically sound exhibits and events. By combining our complimentary strengths, FLIK will expand not only in size — but also in scope of artistic expression and medium.

FLIK began in 2007 as an Adobe Flash movie festival which featured 16 artists from 12 different countries. Thanks to Jack Whitsitt, Art Outlet was able to transport the international artists to the theatre via the online 3d environment ‘Second Life‘ — thus allowing the international moviemakers to not only view the screening, but for the local audience to interact with them as well. The event also featured musical performances from Timothy Bracken and Art Daniels.

For FLIK 2008, a greater range of animation and experimental filmmaking will be presented, as well as an on site interactive sculpture exhibit, more performances between screenings, and an expanded presence in Second Life to simulcast the event internationally. We will also have air conditioning that works.

Make sure to join us in July for FLIK 2008!
